By Crescencia Pedersen

Are you ready to get a home theatre sound system? Here are several tips to help you look for the best sound system for you.

1. Take the good time with the room you are going to place your brand new home theater sound system. Believe it or not but the room is as much a component in your home theater system as any of the electronics you may ever buy. Look carefully to see which room you will be placing your brand new system in. Consider whether or not this room will be utilized solely for your system or will it be used for other activities. Will there be any size considerations for the components and speakers you intend on using with the dimensions of the room?

Consider sketching a map of your room and draw the possible placements of your furniture, components and speakers. Measure the room's dimensions and write them down. Make a list of all the inputs you now have and may continue to use. Make a list of the inputs you wish to add to your new audio system. You should write down which components are actually going to need wires and cables. Also, get the exact estimated lengths of those wires and cables. After all of this is worked out carry this information and map with you if you go out to buy your new sound system.

It is very important set up your room for optimal picture and sound by reducing screen and hard surface reflections. Don't forget the television picture isn't really pretty when light is reflecting off the TV screen. Also, audio isn't so great when sound waves are reflecting off hard surfaces like bare walls and windows.

2. Decide on what you want to experience when you settle down on your couch with your partner and a big bowl of popcorn. Ruminate on the experience you want before you ruminate on your budget. Is it stereo, surround sound, or primarily movies?

3. Spend a few hours looking around on key sites and forums and you will know more than most. Friends, family, trade and consumer magazines and inquiring jaunts to your favorite electronic store will help you gain customer leverage. Do not buy anything at this point. Get as much information stuffed into your brain that will help you when the time comes for you to buy your system.

4. Revisit the drawing of your room and your research. You will ultimately end up with two, possibly three choices. By now you should be a confident consumer. Decide what you absolutely want.

5. There are values out there the trick is to be an expert on home theater audio systems. Keep your eyes open for great deals. Big electronic stores offer promotions, online manufacturers can offer radically lower markup than retailers and online auctions offer access to deals all over the world.

6. Do not get trapped with a mismatched TV size for your room. The key here's balance. If the TV is too big then you tend to see the details of the screen, not the image. If the TV is too small you might seem like you're sitting in the nosebleed section. Here is an equation to help you choose the best screen size for your room.

2.5 x the size of you TV screen = Suggested viewing distance

For example: If your TV is 36" then according to the equation you should sit about 90" from your TV (36 x 2.5 = 90). Note that this chart in only a reference.

Good luck finding the home theater audio system to fit your needs. Enjoy shopping and make the experience fun.

The home theatre setup is one of the key things that one can do to ensure that they have the best sound output from it. It is rather an expensive thing and knowledge of how to do the connection is paramount. Many of them come with five speakers, a sub woofer and DVD player. The connection of this is a challenge to some people but here are some tips on how one can do it.

Location of the system will determine many things. First one should have a location where it is large enough to have the sound surround well. Also dust is known to damage the gadget very much and should be minimal where the gadget is located. Be sure to look also into the physical damage that may be caused by the movements and keep it far from all this.

The positions are different for the various types of speakers. This is usually determined by the features that are made in the speakers. The front speakers are no made as the back ones. Also the sub woofer has got its own special features and sound. That is the main reason why the position of each is different from the others.

There are those which are kept facing the listeners and near the television. They usually have got surround sound system which makes them qualify to be the front speakers. They are made to produce a sound like the one for the television so that it is easy to connect the pictures to the sound that is being produced.

The back ones are to be placed on their stands behind the listeners. This should be around a meter from where the listeners will be sited. Also they should be almost the same position as if they are facing the front ones. This is important for the performance of this and how the sound will be produced. Also the height should be checked so that they are not placed so low or very high.

As long as your system has got the five small speakers and the sub woofer then there is a central speaker that should be in front of the listeners. It is not a very hard thing to do it only needs you to keep it in between the front ones and somewhere in front. The last speaker is the sub woofer and it should be in a strategic position away from damage but it can basically be kept anywhere in the room.
